Structural Design and Calculations
Good construction starts with numbers that can be defended. The Company prepares structural designs and calculation packages for timber, steel, masonry, concrete and combined systems, giving every beam, column, wall and foundation a traceable set of calculations behind it. We size elements against current British and European standards, we model the loads that a building actually carries, and we check critical connections so the details do not fail the theory.
Every calculation pack is prepared for building control submission and is issued with a clear drawing set that a steel fabricator or a carpenter can build from without asking questions. Where an existing structure needs to be altered, we assess the reserve capacity in the old building and design openings and supports that respect what is already there.
Because we work closely with the site teams on our own projects, our designs are buildable as well as mathematically correct. We have seen what fits in a narrow London garden and what a crane can lift over a roof, so our structural proposals carry the memory of physical reality, not just the logic of a calculation sheet.
Build Project Management

Renovations and Extensions
Many of our most satisfying projects are those that breathe new life into existing homes and buildings. The Company manages rear extensions, side returns, loft conversions, basement underpinning and whole house refurbishments, always working carefully around the parts of the building that must stay standing and stay dry.
Our renovation method starts with measured surveys and structural probes, so we know exactly what the old building contains before we cut anything. We then sequence the strip-out, the structural openings, the new frames and the re-instatement so that the client home keeps working where possible and every opening is properly propped until the permanent support is in.
Extensions are where our structural skill shows most clearly. A big glass extension over a basement, a two storey rear addition or a dormer loft conversion each throws up its own geometry of loads, and we design the steel and timber that carries them while keeping the details crisp enough to suit a modern interior. The result is more usable space, delivered safely around a family that is often still living on site.
Site Surveying and Setting Out
Accurate geometry on the ground saves money and arguments upstream of every trade. The Company undertakes topographical and measured building surveys, and we set out the datums, grids, foundation lines and levels that the groundworks and frame teams build against.
We use total stations and electronic levels for the positional work, giving each set-out point a measured coordinate rather than a guessed mark. That precision matters for foundation pours, for structural steel that is fabricated off site to tight tolerances and for extensions that must line up exactly with an existing building line.
We also check the work of others when the temperature of a job demands it, recording as built positions and levels that keep the records straight between the design and the finished building. A clean set of survey data at the start, and a verified as built record at the end, closes the loop that keeps a structure true.
BIM and Digital Construction Systems
Modern construction is run on coherent data, and the Company builds coordinated digital models that stay in step with the physical site. We develop building information models that carry geometry together with the schedules, sizes and specifications that the real building needs, rather than a picture that cannot answer a simple question.
Our digital service includes clash detection between the structure and the services of a building, so the pipes and beams do not discover each other painfully in the middle of the fit out. We manage issue logs that route problems to the right designer, and we share careful, level appropriate models with the whole project team rather than hoarding our files.
At handover the same data becomes the asset record. A coordinated model, a clean information pack and a digital maintenance schedule give the client a living owner manual for the building, replacing the drawer of tired drawings with a record that can guide alteration and upkeep for the life of the asset.
Safety and Compliance Reviews
A disciplined site is a safe site, and the Company supports principal duty holders through the paperwork and the practice of compliance. We prepare method statements and risk assessments that match the actual work planned, and we review the equivalent documents of subcontractors so that the whole supply chain operates on a consistent safety standard.
Our reviews cover welfare provision, access and egress, plant inspection, edge protection and the management of temporary works, which are among the most dangerous parts of any build. We audit what happens on the ground rather than only what is written in the folder, and we help close every action before it becomes an incident.
For design phases we work through the requirements of the Construction Design and Management Regulations, recording the risks that the design itself raises and removing or managing them where the designer has influence. This is compliance in the practical sense that keeps people safe, keeps the demolition of a bad reputation away from the client and keeps the programme moving.
